Energy from sun, wind, water, biomass and geothermal sources is capable of meeting over half of Germany’s energy needs by the year 2050. Germany can cut its emission of greenhouse gases to about 20 percent of its 1990 emission levels, provided that renewable energies continue to be rolled out, and provided that more efficient use is made of the energy obtained from them.
